Mallory Park Race Report

August 2nd 2009

Put the car on the trailer to head for Mallory and discovered 12 inch crack in windscreen. Emergency visit to National Windscreens in Stafford for a replacement then on to the circuit. First time out on new tyres in qualifying, great grip but steep learning curve and impossible to rapidy unlearn what I'm used to on the old 539 and 510 compounds, so qualified with 59.63 putting me on row 13 in the heat.

Race start and avoided the first corner mayhem, had a great view of the action and made up positions to finish 19th, although still much more time to find on the new tyres with a best lap of 59.25

There was a big delay to the start of the race as there were works on a tyre wall being rebuild from an impact in the previous race. Video camera shut down so no footage, which is a real shame as had great view of first corner incident and enjoyed some close racing and overtaking, as well as XR2 of Stephen Ayres or Martin Cayzer having a big moment into the hairpin.

Great to see everybody again after some time out. Look forward to seeing you soon.
