Silverstone Race Report

August 19th 2007

Silversone celebrated the 10th anniversary of Stock Hatch racing, and 73 cars turned out to race, plus previous champions for the parade prior to the afternoons racing.

Qualifying in session A, the track was damp. I ran a full wet set up, and placed 16th with a best time of 1:21.85

For heat 1 I was on row 8 in 16th place, Damien Cottrell and Darren Wilson just in front on the video.

Race start, then by lap 3 the rain started to fall more heavily. I have switched to dry set up which brings best time down to 1:16.62. I miss gear selection, dropping places to Andrew Thorpe, Jamie Golby and Derek Rozier. I manage to recover the places on lap 11, to finish 14th.

Final, of 40 cars I am 30th on the grid, race start, just behind Nick Carter and Colin Thorpe, lap 5 and Kev Hutton passes in Copse, I retake the position, again at Copse, on lap 7. For the last few laps (14-16), Andrew Thorpe follows forcing me to defend, and I hold position for 19th. Best lap 1:16.46. Peter Felix wins from Alex Dew and Matthew Foley, Pete Morgan in 5th place and Maurice Hayden 10th

Next race 8th September at Oulton Park
