Castle Combe Race Report
May 29th 2006
First visit to Castle Combe, qualified to start 14th in heat A, Dan Summers and Robbie Boon ahead. Race start and the pack passes through Quarry cleanly. I pass Boon and Nick Carter into Tower. Lap 2 and Pete Morgan and Ian Oakes off in Camp. Lap 4 I pass Alistair Vannier into Tower, but run wide in Bobbies and hand the place back. I drop places to Carter and Morgan to finish 11th. Maurice Hayden wins from John Hemming and Simon Hunt.
Heat 2 is won by Matt Wilkins from early leader Jeff Humphries and Matthew Foley.
I'm 21st on the grid for the final, which with 41 cars is the biggest single grid we've had for stock hatch. I go out on a dry set up just as the rain begins, and completely mess up my start. I manage to pass Paul Bishop and Dan Summers in the closing stages but it's only enough for 31st. Race is won by Wilkins from Martin Boon then Foley.
