Cadwell Race Report

24th June 2006

Get helped off in qualifying after an initial mistake and have to pull in, leaving me a fair bit of work to move up the field. Many thanks to all who helped with the repairs, especially Matt Wilkins and team for sorting the tracking out.

First heat on Saturday was won by Gareth Wright from Simon Hunt and Alastair Boulton. I'm in the second heat start. Drop a place back to Loz Ward after passing off the line. John Hemming struggles, moves well out of the way to not obstruct the racing, lap 4 and I drop a place to Alex Dew, who then has a tangle with Ward, earning a five second penalty. I finish 3rd, behind race winner Pete Morgan then Matt Rozier.

Final start. On lap 2 Terry Roughton gets by, only to go off and bring out the red flags. At the restart I get away but Alastair Boulton passes on lap 3. Over laps 4 and 5 Alex Dew and Lee Scott chase me and fight with each other. I'm then hit in Chris Curve by both Dew who was following, then Scott. I count five separate contacts in the same corner. On the last lap Morgan charges through and battles Boulton, who holds his place. I sit on the rev limiter too long and gift Scott 15th by 3 hundredths. Martin Boon wins from Maurice Hayden and Chris Petto.

25th June 2006

I'm 9th on the grid for the first heat, but jump up to 6th at the start. I chase Darren Wilson for the best part of 3 laps with Martin Ward chasing close behind me, until I lose the back end in Hall Bends and collect Ward before the Hairpin. The impact flicks the master cut off so I am unable to restart the car and the race is red flagged. The restart lasts all of five seconds before the reds are out again, as Mike Donnelly's Rallye is collected by a back marker. Pete Morgan is declared winner, from Gareth Wright, Boulton.

The final is won by Hayden from Boon, Petto.
