Brands Race Report
June 19th 2005
First drive of car on new suspension, plus spin and traffic in qualifying put me overall down in 44th out of 84, with a 1:02.53 lap time.
Heat 1 was won by Paul Wilson from Pat Grove and Nigel Grimwood. I was 10th on the grid for heat 2. Mediocre start then outside into Paddock Hill bend meant that I was perfectly placed to collect Matt Urlwin as he span off the track. Although I was able to continue, the damage was too severe and the panels were in contact with the front wheels so I decided to retire. Ian Oakes won from Steve Groom and Alex Dew.
The final was won by pole man Maurice Hayden, who led the whole race, hotly persued by Stuart Pearson. Ian Laughton a comfortable 3rd. Some good battles in the chasing pack made for some drama. Congratulations to Maurice on his first win.
Pembrey 9th and 10th July next outing.
