Snetterton Race Report

19th October 2003

Qualified 10th with 1:29.02. Started reasonably well and passed Hunt, who was squeezed by McMillan, and connected with my rear quarter, but held to follow McMillan into Riches. I drift wide and follow Howlett, allowing Hunt back alongside on the inside. McMillan passes Blumson on the inside into Sear, outbraking himself and collecting Shepherd, who corrects his slide to collect near side rear of Hunts car, who spins into Gordon MacMillan. I have nowhere to go and hit back of Shepherd as this is happening, lose momentum, and Lewis, Boon, Roughton, Morgan, Blamire and others pass down Revett, putting me well down the field. I follow Howlett and Blamire, and the three of us pass Neep on lap 2, into and out of the Esses. Maintain position until lap 5, when I make a hash of Russell, letting Drewery attack. Contact with Drewery and Corteil slows me and Neep is back past by end of Senna Straight. By lap 7 I catch Drewery, who has been passed by Neep, and overtake out of Sear, catching Neep but miss gears in Russell, letting Sheehan past. Lap 8 and catch Sheehan down Revett, and go outside into Esses, we make contact out of Esses but we stay on the track, but I lose back end into Esses for no apparent reason, and I'm on the grass and Sheehan is back through. Lap 9 take too much speed into Esses and lose it, letting another 6 cars through, then fail to select gear in Russell gifting another 2 places, and letting Munday attack, but I hold the place. Pass limping Neep round Coram, and finish 20th behind Speed. Paul Taylor wins the race, and the 2003 Stock Hatch Championship.
