Donington Race Report

30th March 2003

In truth, a qualifying report. All was well for bulk of session, the car repaired after the smash at Mallory. Assembled early to get some clear track, and car handling reasonably well so started to build up speed. Let Hilary past and followed into Coppice to find oil on track which put us both sideways and narrowly avoided an expensive accident (link to quicktime video here). Pressed on and put in a 1:34.37 on lap 7 to put us into the final, but the rattling from the engine and distinct fall off in power were enough to tell me that the chances of racing were not good, and despite help from Mark Hammersley and Richard Warner was not able to get the car fixed. Still, my misfortune gave a reserve a chance to race, and maybe I'll see some of the entry fee refunded...
