Cadwell Race Report
28th June 2003
Still preparing the 106 so XR2 ran at Cadwell, starting 5th on the grid. Got blocked at the start, and run off the road to find myself 7th behind Simon Holloway, who I passed into the hairpin on lap 2. I then caught the XR2 of Cliff Pellin who took to the grass at Park allowing me past. Held position to finish where I started, 5th behind Rowe, Howes, Kingsnorth and Hemming.

Lap times from day 1 put me 6th on the grid, and made 4th by Coppice from the green lights. Short lived as John Munday had the inside line into Charlies, and brake lights from Jon Howes in front made me lift, John passing and the resulting lack of momentum up Park Straight leaving me easy prey for the W MAW 205 (Horsey?) so back in 6th where I started. James Marshall drove around the outside of me into Park on lap 4 after my poor exit from Charlies demoting me to 7th, although David Drinkwater's retirement on lap 7 put me back to 6th. There was nothing I could do to hold off Chris Cody on lap 9, who had decided to start racing and soon passed Marshall too, and what followed was a great 4 way scrap to the checkered flag, with Howes, Cody, Marshall and myself finishing within a two second gap, after over 16 minutes of racing. Unfortunately I was at the back. Nuts!
